Kadal (Tamil: கடல்; English: Ocean) is Tamil film to be directed and produced by Mani Ratnam. The scripting for this film is reported to have been penned by Jeyamohan, who has inked scripts for Angadi Theru as well as Naan Kadavul. The ace director is also believed to have roped in Rajiv Menon for cinematography. This film will see Karthik’s son, Gautham debuting as hero. Tunes will be composed by A. R. Rahman. Mani Ratnam has signed Arjun for this movie, but not to play the role of a baddie as reported in a section of media. Now, it looks like Lakshmi Manchu (daughter of Mohan Babu) has booked a berth in the movie. The latest is that veterans Pasupathy and Lal will be part of the movie, which is set in the backdrop of fishermen in and around Rameswaram. Samantha will be the lead lady.Mani Ratnam once again teaming up with A. R. Rahman for this 2012 directorial venture.
